Dreams Do Come True

I just returned to California after a year in Pennsylvania, and I did nothing while I was there to document my trip. I will be leaving again in August to go to Florida, and I want something I can always look back on and relive one of the best times of my life. I’ll be participating in the Walt Disney World College Program in the Fall 2009 season as an Attractions cast member. I’m going to live, learn, and breathe Disney for five months. I am so excited to be a part of the best internship on earth.
Here’s a little summary of my waiting process:
The process started on February 16th, 2009 when I applied for the program. I watched the presentation online and filled out the application. The next day I called and scheduled my interview for February 19th at 8:20am. I interviewed with Lindsay. She was really nice and easy to talk to. I was asked pretty typical questions, such as “what would you do if someone wanted to go on a ride but they were too short?” and “what would you do if someone wanted an item but it was out of stock?” My interview lasted a little long, about 27 minutes. After that, it was a waiting game. I waited and waited and waited, only to return from spring break with a pending letter in my mailbox. I was kind of disappointed, but at the same time it was not a rejection so I still had hope. The first week of April I attended my on campus presentation. It was the same as the e-presentation, except that campus reps were there to tell us about their experiences. It was about 4 weeks since my pending letter and I was going nuts but I had until the 17th to hear back. The night of April 10th I was at a friends house for our usual girls night. I decided at about 1am to check my email and I had one from Disney College Program Recruiting saying "Congratulations." I was so excited I couldn't sleep. I had work at 8am the next morning, but I was so excited it didn't matter. I spent so much time reading about the program online and meeting people. Too much time perhaps, as I was also in the middle of planning a surprise move back across the United States. But honestly, who wouldn’t be excited about an internship with the best company on earth?
It was a long process waiting to see if I would be going, but it was all worth it.
At this point I have roommates picked out. Kendall, Cori, Courtney, Tara, Brooke, Brittni, and Bree. They are all amazing and I cannot wait until August 19th! We have a group on Facebook where we chat and figure out what we are all going to bring which seems to be working out really well.
I still have about two months before I leave and I need to get through summer school. I’m taking biology and history over the summer so I think I will keep myself busy and I will be relieved when it is over! There’s not really much else going on right now, so I’ll leave it at that.
